About the artist: Nicolaas Wijnberg
Amsterdam, 1918-2006
Nicolaas Wijnberg was educated at the Graphic School in Amsterdam. In the late 1940s he started with two colleagues, Hans van Norden and Theo Kurpershoek, an artists' association The Realists. She opposed the abstract art of CoBrA and mainly made modern figurative art. His work is included in the collection of the Rijksmuseum and Wijnberg has received several awards for his work as an artist.
